Intelligence as an advantage. Everything around us is measured, effectively making every business now a data-driven one. How can that be used to your advantage? Intelligent business solutions combine people, data, systems, and processes for a real-time view of what’s going on. Watching these data shifts can lead to more successful decision making, such as in which areas of your business you should invest in technology. This can be achieved with business analytics, like Power BI and Jet Reports or Biznet.
Cloud computing and financial reporting are no longer just buzzwords — they are driving business transformation for small and midsize businesses. By bringing together business applications and familiar productivity tools, Microsoft Dynamics in the cloud can now offer the insights you need to better understand your customers and drive your success.

Insight Works boasts a number of clients that select Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central versions based on their particular business requirements, with choices that include either Essentials or Premium in addition to either a Cloud ERP or On-Premise Deployment. With either deployment, the Business Central Manufacturing Capabilities’ Premium variant provides all of the vast functionality in Essentials, plus robust manufacturing features such as:
As an all-in-one business management solution that is easy to use and adapt, our manufacturing clients have found Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central instrumental in helping them make smarter decisions and connect their business in ways they never thought of.
Here’s what’s key to remember: Business Central can grow as your business requirements change – all while you take advantage of the latest technology – so if you have been looking for an all-around ideal manufacturing management system to put you at ease, go no further than Microsoft’s answer in this digital age.
Let’s now take a closer look at Business Central’s Manufacturing Capabilities:
As a required protocol for the configuration of all other Manufacturing modules, this enables you to create bills of materials and calculate standard costs.
The Production Orders module includes a manual supply planning tool as an alternative to automatic planning, and with it you can create and manage production orders while posting consumption and output to those orders. After a production order has been created, you can calculate net requirements based on that production order.
This enables you to run the Agile Manufacturing, Supply Planning and Capacity Planning modules.
Create and manage different versions of the manufacturing bill of materials and routings.
Plan material requirements based on demand with support for master production scheduling and materials requirements planning; basic Supply Planning encompasses:
Manage demand forecasting based on items and input demand (sales) forecasts for products and components in a more convenient way (daily/monthly/quarterly).
You can take advantage of the Sales and Inventory Forecast extension to gain deep insight about potential sales and a clear overview of expected stock-outs; the built-in Cortana Intelligence leverages historical data to help you manage your stock and respond to your customers.
Add capacities (work centers) to the manufacturing process by setting up routings and using them on production orders and in material requirements planning.
Manage finite loading of capacity-constraint resources; through Finite Loading, you can take capacity constraints into account so that no more work is assigned to a work center than the capacities can be expected to execute during a given time period.
Designed to help you manage capacity of a single machine/producing resource, machine centers allows you to plan/manage capacity on several levels – on a more detailed level for machine centers and on a consolidated level for work centers.

High value!
Development VMs for Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations come with a cross-reference database that doesn’t match the actual code and metadata. There are many annoying references to Microsoft’s own test models, which aren’t included and therefore such references are useless and make finding real references more complicated. (The idea to get it fixed is quite popular and currently tagged as Planned).
I wanted a quick way to get rid of these references, therefore I simply deleted them from DYNAMICSXREFDB database:
DELETE[REFERENCES]FROM[REFERENCES]JOIN Names ON(Names.Id =[REFERENCES].SourceId OR Names.Id =[REFERENCES].TargetId)JOIN Modules ON Names.ModuleId = Modules.Id WHERE Module LIKE'%Test%'AND Module <>'TestEssentials'
It ran for seven minutes on my local VM (with database recovery mode set to Bulk-logged).
The U.S. government is going through a lengthy shutdown and federal workers are starting to feel the pinch. Over 800,000 federal workers are still at home and about half were told to continue to work without pay. Even more, unless lawmakers intervene there’s no guarantee that these federal workers will get paid for the time the government was shut down.
Let’s remember that doesn’t mean cyber or national security threats will conveniently stop.
Yes, most of the government departments— State, Treasury, Justice and Defense — are still operational and are moving along. There are still police on the streets, military personal, NSA analysts fighting hackers in cyberspace and criminals still facing justice.
Yet, other departments like Homeland Security, which takes the bulk of the government’s cybersecurity responsibility — are starting to suffer the most. And the longer this shutdown goes on, the greater chance of reduced staffs, tighter budgets, and potential damage.
Here’s the Breakdown:
New Cybersecurity division at Homeland Security: On November 16, the new Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), a division of Homeland Security, was established. Yet, since it has been operational more than half of its staff have been effected by the shutdown. The divisions main purpose is to lead the national effort to defend critical national infrastructure from ongoing threats. They are feeling the pinch.
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards: The NIST gives all government departments up-to-date security advice. Over 85 percent of NIST employees have been sent home without pay. That just leaves a handful of NIST’s essential staff to provide advice and guidance.
Threat Intelligence: The Automated Indicator Sharing (AIS) allows private industry and government agencies to share threat intelligence. Information is also shared with Homeland Security’s government partners to ensure that any detected attack can only ever be used once. The shutdown has heavily impacted the data exchange program where they have sent 80 percent of staff home.
Secret Service staff are working unpaid: Keeping senior lawmakers, politicians, and the president alive is a paramount to national security. Yet the majority of front-line and back office Secret Service agents currently protecting senior administration staff are going unpaid during the shutdown.
TSA Agents – High Turnover? Up to 90 percent of the TSA’s workforce (60,078 employees) are going unpaid. This will mean huge turnover on an already low paying job. TSA did say things are moving forward at every U.S. airport security screening areas despite the shutdown. What type of quality is being provided. One traveler/passenger at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport tweeted this week: “I asked TSA agent if I should take out my laptop out of its case and she said, ‘I don’t care, I’m not getting paid’.”
The government shutdown is hurting short-term efforts, but could also result in long-lasting damage. Cyber threats don’t operate on Washington’s political timetable, and they don’t stop because of a shutdown.
So how does that effect your organization? I would use what is happening with our national government as an example to prepare and protect your organization from potential threats.
